Marco describes the Guardiola vineyard as steep, bumpy, and lean. Situated in Castiglione di Sicilia, the largest of the northern slopes of Etna. Guardiola is a natural progression of Santo Spirito located just south of it. The vineyard sits at 800-900m asl and is the highest site, cool, windy, and barren. Soil is volcanic basalt and is hard and steep with vines that are between 90 and 120 years old

A rare but much loved red grape variety grown on the volcanic soils of Mount Etna in Sicily. It's kind of like a cross between a Pinot Noir and a Nebbiolo...heavenly...and makes wines that are deliciously light-bodied but intensely flavoured with zingy red fruits, crunchy cherry, spicy cinnamon, dried herbals, zesty acidity, leather and a complex volcanic earthiness that sits underneath it all. A brilliant variety that is growing in popularity by the day!
