About the wine

Tasting notes

The very mild vintage conditions provided the perfect slow ripening framework for Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz in Wrattonbully. It is an eminently Australian wine style, with black and red fruit and floral aromas, velvety tannins and superbly balanced palate texture.

Expert review

Deep crimson with a complex nose of violets and potpourri, lemon pith, concentrated red and black berries, a touch of prune, black olive, coffee, blonde tobacco, dried/roasted undergrowth and graphite. In the mouth it's rich and intense in fruit, as all serious Australian Cabernet Shiraz should be, but wonderfully balanced with fine layers and a tight framework of structure. Think generous red and black berries, cassis, tart plum, raspberry licorice, blood orange zest, cocoa, baking spice and tarragon that lean savoury, textured with fine grained clay-like tannins and driven by mineral edged acidity. It moves as one through to a reaching tail that ends long, with lovely tension and precision. This is all class! It took about 3 days for this to fully open up, so take your time with it and enjoy the bloom.
