An exceptional single vineyard Shiraz from a 4-acre site near Avoca in the Pyrenees. Wine maker Doug Neal believes this is the best shiraz he has made. Inspired by his love of Cote Rotie and Hermitage, yet very much a wine of its site in the Pyrenees.

Deep, dark crimson with a nose of violets, lavender, dried rose and bayleaf that float above blueberry, plum, salted Dutch licorice, Eucalyptus, Sichuan pepper, allspice, pomelo, beef drippings and graphite. In the mouth, it’s medium bodied, deeply mineral, savoury and dark fruited with black cherry, fresh plum, violets, Aussie garrigue and crushed stone complexities at its core. Firm granitic tannins grip and hold, while a fine line of acidity carries everything across a long, twisting arc that reveals more Sichuan-like spice and salted Dutch licorice, before it concludes on a drying tail that whispers black olive and black pepper.
Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
