Entirely from our Heysen Estate Vineyard, this wine is a blend of all three clones of our Shiraz- Kalimna 3C, 1654 and BVRC30. Deep loam over clay, with outcrops of quartz stone and ironstone.Harvested as separate clones and fermented wild in old concrete fermenters. Foot stomped and basket pressed, then stored in French oak for 18 months. The individual clones are then blended together to make a more complex wine. Bottling with no fining.

About the wine

Tasting notes

Our take on the classic Barossa Shiraz, this wine has a inky purple colour with a deep red hue. Aromas of dark plum, coffee and black pepper. The palate is rich and voluptuous, with the classic blue fruits and smooth silky tannins. This wine has great capacity to age and will continue to soften and develop more secondary fruit characters.

The Grape

Shiraz or Syrah

Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
