Vinification: 34 mths in new & seasoned French Oak hogsheads. Vintage Conditions: In 2019, exceptional winter rainfall gave us a full soil moisture profiles and budburst occurred on par with long term averages with very solid early shoot growth. Mid December through to the early March was extremely dry with virtually no rainfall. The mild days and cool nights in late February and early March aided in the final ripen creating strong varietal characters and crisp natural acids.

About the wine

Tasting notes

Deep crimson red in colour. Aromas of lifted dark cherries and blue fruits with undertones of stewed fruits, mulberry and satsuma plum balance a top elegant French oak. Medium to full palate weight, powerful flavours of spice, pepper and sumac. Structural powdery tannins provide a dry finish to compliment the dark fruits. Alcohol 14.5%

Expert review

This is immediately appealing on the nose showing blackberry, mixed spice, olive and cedar aromas, leading to a concentrated palate delivering terrific fruit intensity with velvety texture and fine grainy tannins. Wonderfully composed and structured with a persistent satisfying finish.

The Grape

Shiraz or Syrah

Shiraz, or Syrah, is one of the most loved, rich and powerful red wine varieties made famous for its mineral and structured expressions from the Rhône in France and the rich and decadent fruity expressions from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Full bodied, rich in antioxidants and generously fruity, Shiraz sits proudly on the table for those that like their wine big and bold. Think violets, blackberries, plum, chocolate, pepper, black olive, liquorice, rosemary, tobacco and spice...i'm thirsty already!
