The Domaine du Collier was created in 1999 by Antoine Foucault (the son of Charly Foucault from Clos Rougeard) and Caroline Boireau. Over the past 19 years Antoine and Caroline have quietly been making some of the most exciting wines in the Loire Valley. The wines have gained a cult following in France for their level of depth and sophistication and are very hard to find! From terroir exactly like Rougeard's "Les Poyeux" (pure, almost beach sand, over limestone). A rare bottling from Antoine Foucault and what a wine. One of the great Loire Valley red's.

Vibrant fruit on the nose, sweet blackcurrant with a gloriously perfumed seam. The palate is bright, with a succulent texture and terrific substance underneath the perfumed fruit. It feels stony but has all the resonance, complexity and depth you would expect from an estate of this calibre and, as attractive and glorious as it is in youth, time will only improve it.

Cabernet Franc is a red grape variety used as an important blending component for Bordeaux Blends, but also as an exceptional stand alone expression in the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc is the father grape to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and with a uniquely savoury dried cayenne/paprika note that distinguishes it from its child grapes. Medium bodied, graced with good levels of acidity and a slightly savoury bias, Cab Franc is a great choice for those who enjoy elegant reds with complexity and pairs perfectly with tomato based dishes and smoked meats.
