David Ramey is one of California’s best and most respected winemakers. After making wine at Château Pétrus, Dominus, Chalk Hill and Rudd Estate, David Ramey settled into his own brand in 1996 and focused on Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa and Chardonnay from Sonoma. The wines, as he says, are "bold, but in check." They’re intense, vibrant and refined.

About the wine

Tasting notes

A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. Medium to deep ruby, it has an incredible nose of licorice, dried flowers and mint chocolate over black berries and black cherries, cedar shavings and pencil lead, plus spicy clove and star anise touches. Medium to full-bodied, it floods the mouth with plush flavor layers wrapped in chocolate-textured, pixelated tannins and great freshness to counter, finishing long and luscious

The Grape

Cabernet Sauvignon

A red grape variety that is responsible for the most expensive wines on the planet...some fetching over $100, 000 per bottle!!! It is also the worlds most popular style of wine and produces age worthy and concentrated expressions that show notes of potpourri, cassis, black cherry, blackberry, mulberry, raspberry, leafy herbals, green pepper, baking spices, charcoal, graphite and cedar. Most famous for the first growth wines from the Left Bank in Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon is often used as a primary variety for red blends designed to last decades and is a must have style for any serious collector.
