A very unique and utterly compelling expression of high altitude Grenache Noir from old bush vines, some centenary (70 to 120+ years old), grown on the purest volcanic ash and sand. The sedimentary lava is quite fine and broken down at this altitude. The wine is then transferred to ceramic amphora vases of different capacities for 19 months of élevage.

About the wine

Tasting notes

Herbaceous and tea forward with tight red and black fruits and florals with a palate that's dry, intensely mineral and exceedingly fresh with red fruits, tart peach, plum skins and sorrel, gripped by texturally complex tannins. One of a kind

The Grape

Grenache

Grenache, (or Garnacha), is one of the most important red grape varieties in the world and is responsible for some of the most expensive and collected wines out there. It's the key variety for making elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape and rich GSM's, but is brilliant as a stand alone variety and makes wines with a medium body, but intense and often spicy flavours of deep red fruits, black cherry, charred plum, leather, blood orange, dried herbals and cinnamon. From crisp and crunchy, to velvety and rich, this versatile grape is awesome!
