As far as Australian Grenache goes, this is at the very top of the echelon! A singular expression of Grenache from Polygon 5, a tiny patch of our old vineyard grown on schist that's been studied extensively, picked and vinified separately.

About the wine

Tasting notes

Wild in nature and darker in fruit complexion, this is a structured, brooding and intense wine with great tension and svelte, mouth-coating tannins. It loves some air and opens up beautifully over time.

Expert review

Medium-deep red-purple colour, typical of the grape, the bouquet reserved and shy with spicy/chocolaty aromas, liqueur cherry beneath. It's full bodied and richly textured with masses of fine grained tannins, some brick-dust/earthy minerality, and a beautifully harmonious finish. Magic stuff

The Real Review

The Grape

Grenache

Grenache, (or Garnacha), is one of the most important red grape varieties in the world and is responsible for some of the most expensive and collected wines out there. It's the key variety for making elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape and rich GSM's, but is brilliant as a stand alone variety and makes wines with a medium body, but intense and often spicy flavours of deep red fruits, black cherry, charred plum, leather, blood orange, dried herbals and cinnamon. From crisp and crunchy, to velvety and rich, this versatile grape is awesome!
