Rumbo al Norte has been the pinnacle vineyard of the Comando G project since the beginning. It’s an incredibly rocky site, near Navarrevisca, at over 1,200 metres above sea level, with old bush vines wedged between granite boulders. The extreme altitude and poor soils mean that production is naturally capped at around 1,000 bottles a year. This Grand Gru Grenache is light, ethereal, built on tension and finesse and have much more in common with high-end Burgundy than what you would normally associate with Spain.

he nose encapsulates the character of Villanueva de Ávila with elegance, complexity and floral notes. It's bright and light, with energy and power but in the shape of a ballet dancer, gracious and energetic and with no fat at all. It has a very sharp palate, with a strong mineral sensation, with depth and pungent flavors that give it a lot of length. It's another stunning Rumbo al Norte, one of the most beautiful vineyards I know, a place with a special energy where you feel it has to make great wine.

Grenache, (or Garnacha), is one of the most important red grape varieties in the world and is responsible for some of the most expensive and collected wines out there. It's the key variety for making elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape and rich GSM's, but is brilliant as a stand alone variety and makes wines with a medium body, but intense and often spicy flavours of deep red fruits, black cherry, charred plum, leather, blood orange, dried herbals and cinnamon. From crisp and crunchy, to velvety and rich, this versatile grape is awesome!
