An extraordinary Chianti that blew me away! Made from 95% Sangiovese and 5% Canaiolo, which is destemmed in a Burgundian method, hand sorted then fermented spontaneously in old concrete vats and in elliptical-based, truncated cone-shaped concrete vats. From there it's aged in old large format barrels. The resulting wine is textural, pure fruited, savoury and finely textured with such elegance and personality. Do Not Miss!!

About the wine

Tasting notes

Bloody and savoury on the nose with deep red fruits and florals and a wonderfully flavoured palate that's medium bodied, luscious and long, with very fine tannins and bright acidity that surrounds and supports a core of wonderful elegant fruit. Blown away by the greatness in a wine that's sub $100!!!

The Grape

Sangiovese

Sangiovese is a Tuscan red grape variety that has become the most planted and famous variety in Italy. You may know this variety by a few other names like Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Montefalco Rosso or Carmignano, but rest assured it's all the same grape, but it may grow in different regions. Sangiovese is made for food and shows with aromas and flavours of cherry, red berries, roasted tomato, balsamic, Italian herbs, coffee and cured meats, backed by cutting acidity and a good grip of tannins. The best examples come from Montalcino (Brunello di Montalcino) and can age decades!
