Fiano is an Italian varietal, originating from the Campania region in southern Italy. The hot Mediterranean summers are akin to Heathcote’s. It’s these hot climate varieties that will become more prevalent in Australia as the climate changes. Ben has made this Fiano in a more textural style similar to his Chardonnay techniques. Natural ferment, time in barrels and on gross lees until bottling.

The Grape

Fiano

A white grape variety from Southern Italy that has become quite a popular variety in Australia for its versatility and ability to capture terroir. Fiano can be made either dry, crunchy and lean, or rich, waxy and deeply flavoured with notes of zesty orange citrus, melon, white stonefruit, yellow pear, hazelnut, honey and subtle pine. A lovely alternative for Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
