100% Cabernet Franc. Les Arboises is a subsection of the limestone-dominant Brézé hill. This is Guiberteau’s top red from a renowned red terroir. The monopole parcel was planted in 1957 on a rocky, chalky site and produces super-graceful and mineral expressions of Saumur.

Brooding, complex depth to the nose featuring macerated red fruits, earth, anise spice, a lovely leafy lift and just a whisper of reduction. The palate is just as impressive, with its long, tight structure filled with plump, juicy fruits and deep, mineral-flecked earth tones.

Cabernet Franc is a red grape variety used as an important blending component for Bordeaux Blends, but also as an exceptional stand alone expression in the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc is the father grape to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and with a uniquely savoury dried cayenne/paprika note that distinguishes it from its child grapes. Medium bodied, graced with good levels of acidity and a slightly savoury bias, Cab Franc is a great choice for those who enjoy elegant reds with complexity and pairs perfectly with tomato based dishes and smoked meats.
