Rotem and Mounir Saouma own the iconic micro negociant Lucien Le Moine in Beaune and have been one of the most sought after producers of 1er and Grand Cru Burgundy for some years now. With a passion to own their own vineyards they made the leap and purchased some superb terroir in Chateauneuf-du Pape to start Clos Saouma. To understand the wines of Clos Saouma is to understand their winemaking philosophy of their Burgundian wines. They employ the same techniques they use in Burgundy yet in the Rhone they manage every stage of the process, starting with the vineyards they own, all aspects of winemaking through to bottling. The Magis is an experience. They are truly fascinating white wines and can be compared to the Grand Cru whites of Burgundy. Hand-picked, whole bunch pressed manually. No racking at any stage. Co-fermented in barrels.

Awe inspiring complexity and intensity, this powerful yet supremely elegant white starts with a nose that is reductive and savoury. Smoky flint and brine are met with ginger spice, deep and complex citrus, stonefruit and unctuous yellow orchard fruits. Lees and oak imparts hazelnut characters and buttery patisserie overtones. In the mouth it's creamy, decadent and rolls with flavours that echo the nose. A pristine spine of acidity tightens and focuses the fruit, while a seam of sizzling minerality adds an incredible level of intrigue. This is simply mindblowingly good!
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a French wine appellation in the Southern Rhone, known for its luscious, complex, elegant and mineral red and white blends. The whites are usually made with Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, and Clairette, while the reds use Grenache for it's foundation with additions of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Cinsault and more, but some of these wines can blend up to 20 varieties! Because of this, the results are often spectacularly complex and nuanced with a whole range of aromas and flavours and structure to last decades. These are some of the greatest wines on Earth!
