The vines of Chateau Pierre Bise are grown in Anjou, in the Loire Valley in France. The volcanic spilite soils give the wines a delicious marzipan dimension, and provide both unctuous glycerol and ample ripe acidity.Claude Papin took over his family’s estate in 1990 along with his wife, Joelle Papin-Chevalier. Since then, they have become the most polemic defenders of the Anjou terroir, being perhaps unsurprisingly very good friends with Marcel Deiss from Alsace.

Deliciously full, off dry and complex, this is a wine with plenty of personality and remarkable depth of fruit that commands your attention. It evolves in the glass, adding layers of complexity with notes of marzipan, mixed citrus, pineapple, marmalade, quince, poached pear, tarragon, chamomile, brine and sourdough. Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety most famous for the beautifully lean and mineral expressions that come out of the Loire Valley in France and the rich and sweet expressions from South Africa. The wines are very aromatic and fruit forward, with flavours of quince, pear, yellow apple, chamomile and honey and can be made in a diverse range of style from sparkling, to lean and mineral, all the way to rich and even fortified. Chenin Blanc is quickly becoming a first choice for lovers of complex and fruity white wines and we think it's only the beginning for this amazing grape.
