About the wine

Tasting notes

The bouquet is deep and nascently complex, offering up a superb blend of red and black cherries, gamebird, a complex base of soil tones, a touch of new leather, brown spices, a dollop of fresh oregano and a topnote of distant bonfire. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and chewy, with a good core of fruit, excellent soil transparency and grip, fine balance and a long, complex and very promising finish.

Expert review

Ruby and brick red with a giving nose of red fruits and cherry tomato, citrus zest, balsamic, roasted meats, charcoal and savoury herbals. In the mouth it’s generously flavoured, grand and structured with an almost Burgundian core of sweet and florals red and dark berries, caramelised spice, dried orange zest and leathery complexities that are held within a frame of broad, firm tannins and seamlessly woven acidity. This is gorgeous. It gives of itself quite freely in youth, but the bones are there for long ageing too! Simply delicious.

Wine Worth Writing About

The Grape

Nebbiolo

Often referred to as the king of red grapes, Nebbiolo is responsible for some of the greatest wines in the world. The regions of Barbaresco and Barolo, in Piedmont, Italy, create the most revered expressions of the variety and have set the benchmarks for the world over. Nebbiolo is quite light in colour, dry and delicate but packs a punch in aroma and flavour with notes of rose, tar, cherry, red berries, blood orange, licorice, leather, terracotta and earthy herbals. These wines have high acidity and high tannins, making them extremely age worthy that deepen in complexity over decades. Simply stunning wines!
