Grown by the Mullany family in deep volcanic loam near Wombat, in the Hilltops, on a relatively elevated but warm north-facing site at 480m. The sloping block has North-South row orientation. The vines are spur-pruned and vertically shoot-positioned. The variety yields very generously - severe crop thinning is undertaken at veraison. The late-ripening Grenache is one of the last varieties harvested.Pristine grapes were hand harvested in late March. A number of different ferments were undertaken, including some with carbonic maceration. After pressing, the wine underwent the malolactic fementation in a mix of mainly older Allier barrels before bottling in October 2021.

Grenache, (or Garnacha), is one of the most important red grape varieties in the world and is responsible for some of the most expensive and collected wines out there. It's the key variety for making elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape and rich GSM's, but is brilliant as a stand alone variety and makes wines with a medium body, but intense and often spicy flavours of deep red fruits, black cherry, charred plum, leather, blood orange, dried herbals and cinnamon. From crisp and crunchy, to velvety and rich, this versatile grape is awesome!
