2020 Henri & Gilles Buisson Saint Romain Blanc En Poillange

En Poillange is a climat to the south of Saint-Romain village, a high altitude site that faces mostly east to get the morning sun. It is a very rock site with a high limestone content. The ‘Poillange’ terroir takes position on the slope, taking advantage of its softening and excellent soils. These 60-year-old vines, facing south-east, blossom freshly between 353 and 380 meters above sea level, on a hill opposite the Saint-Romain valley. In this marl and limestone complex, clayey banks are perfectly suited to the Chardonnay grape variety.

About the wine

Tasting notes

A totally captivating and beautifully poised Chardonnay that speaks of its terroir. Described as a stone, rolling along the tongue, leaving a trail of deep fruit flavour, minerality, spice and incredible texture. This is excellent.

The Grape

Chardonnay

One of the most planted, versatile and popular white varieties in the world. As a stand alone grape, Chardonnay is not the most interesting, nor complex varietal out there...but in the hands of a great winemaker it can be turned into one of the world's greatest pleasures! From the best bubbles of Champagne, to the lean, unoaked and mineral expressions of Chablis and the opulent, oaked and complex whites of Burgundy, Chardonnay is responsible for making some of the greatest expressions of white wine on the planet.
