The colour is pale lemon green. The aroma is shy but intensely fresh, mainly of Chardonnay fruit, ripe nectarine with a hint of yeast cashew and oak spice. The aroma compels the need to taste, which amplifies the intensity and freshness but with refined fruit sweetness and texture. Finally, the cutting edge of acid and slight grapefruit finish of a wine that may not yet have the power of the 2020 Tiers but has a finesse that is remarkable.

A beautifully aromatic nose of Lemon Blossom, Verbena, white pepper, salt bush and Gardenia that perfume white peach, charred lime, grapefruit, nashi pear and dried galangal. Gentle salinity, bacon, nougat and custard notes sit quietly behind it all. In the mouth it’s tightly packed and teases the palate with a creamy, citrus lined wave of flavours echoing the nose. Immediately seductive with its silkiness of fruit and rounded oak spice, but simultaneously sharp and hard edged with a serious crunch of minerality and tight phenolics that demand time and patience. A fantastic Tiers, maybe one of their very best!
One of the most planted, versatile and popular white varieties in the world. As a stand alone grape, Chardonnay is not the most interesting, nor complex varietal out there...but in the hands of a great winemaker it can be turned into one of the world's greatest pleasures! From the best bubbles of Champagne, to the lean, unoaked and mineral expressions of Chablis and the opulent, oaked and complex whites of Burgundy, Chardonnay is responsible for making some of the greatest expressions of white wine on the planet.
