Edouard and his now wife Eleni have Chablis running through their veins. Domaine Vocoret is a well established large estate which when entering Chablis town from the North is impossible to miss. Edouard and Eleni wanted to start their own Domaine and in 2013 purchased 5 hectares from their Father + Grandfather. Eleni has been working for some time for Vincent Dauvissat and he has kindly been mentoring them as they establish their Domaine. Edouard was keen to tell me after working at his father’s Domaine for some years he had earmarked the spots he wanted, particularly the ‘Las Bas de Chapelot’ Lieu Dit which sits just under Montee de Tonnerre.

A deft but perceptible application of wood sets off slightly riper yet still cool and pure aromas of green apple, pear, lemon-lime and oyster shell. The tender but still punchy medium-bodied flavors possess excellent depth for a villages level wine along with very fine length on the mouth-watering finish. Lovely and one to look for. Drinking window: 2026+.
One of the most planted, versatile and popular white varieties in the world. As a stand alone grape, Chardonnay is not the most interesting, nor complex varietal out there...but in the hands of a great winemaker it can be turned into one of the world's greatest pleasures! From the best bubbles of Champagne, to the lean, unoaked and mineral expressions of Chablis and the opulent, oaked and complex whites of Burgundy, Chardonnay is responsible for making some of the greatest expressions of white wine on the planet.
