100% Monastrell. The vines are the oldest ones planted by Nemesio Vincente himself when he became the owner of Casa Castillo in 1981. The bodega has even older vines in the highest part the Las Gravas plot, some 720 metres above sea level. The soil consists of gravel on a layer of sand. Fermentation in underground vats without prior destemming. Malolactic fermentation in intensively used 500 litre, French oak barrels. This is followed by 19 months' further ageing in the same barrels, that serve mainly as receptacles for the wine.
