This wine represents a very small portion of our overall production but has always been a strong focus for Prophet’s Rock. We farm our aromatic whites to the same high standard in the vineyard as our top Pinot Noir, and take time through all aspects of production to ensure that the wine we release is the best reflection of the site it can be. This is a dry style with bright aromatics and great concentration. The freshness and texture make it an easy food match.

About the wine

Tasting notes

The 2022 Riesling is singing right out of the gate. Intense and complex aromas of lemons, sweet limes and citrus blossom, with underlying notes of lavender, cardamon and ginger. The palate continues the citrus theme – fresh lemons, lemon curd and ruby grapefruit, with ripe yellow plums. Although the palate is generous with fruit weight, the finish is long and dry, beautifully balanced with the high natural acidity and stoney texture from the schist soils of our Rocky Point vineyard.

Crystal clear silver and light gold with a beautifully aromatic nose of musky rose and lavender, jasmine, citrus blossom, green mango, lime, lemon drops, pineapple juice, almond, baby ginger and sweet spice. In the mouth it’s streamlined, tightly focused and concentrated with nectarine, multidimensional citrus, granny smith, yellow plum and hints of something dark (like cassis) at its core. Pure, intense and juicy it drives with a gravelly mineral quality and jaw clenching acidity that match the energy and volume of the fruit so well. It ends on a perfect cadence…always banging!

Made most famous for the exceptional expressions that come out of Germany, Riesling epitomises white wine of elegance, finesse and complexity. From bone dry to intensely sweet, there's a broad spectrum of expressions ranging from lean and crisp flavours of lime, green apple, pear, jasmine and chalky minerality, to richly flavoured and highly perfumed expressions with Thai basil, saffron, ginger, papaya, nutmeg and honey.
