This exceptional Fleurie is made from 6 hectares of vines up top very old pink granite bedrock with a very fine grain. The result is a faultless expression of finesse and elegance with fruit and minerality at its core. This is like a top shelf Burgundy! Wonderful.

About the wine

Tasting notes

A mix of violets, red and black berries, plum and spice on the nose. In the mouth it's perfectly balanced, silky with lush fruit, deeply mineral and textured with a tight tannic structure and last minutes. A wine with class and grace.

Expert review

97/100 - Tasting this astonishing Fleurie is like watching the shadows flicker on a warm summer's day with a gentle breeze. The delicate interplay of dark (structure) and light (red fruit and floral aromas) on the nose and in the extremely concentrated palate is fascinating, with an astonishing combination of finesse and density. A very long finish where the fine tannins and mineral acidity are tightly interwoven, like long braided hair.

The Grape

Gamay

Gamay is a red grape variety that has a home in Beaujolais, just south of Burgundy in France. It's a floral, fruity and gently rustic light bodied red that is very food friendly and quite similar to Pinot Noir. Expect aromas and flavours of pink rose, violets, blossoms, pomegranate, wild berries, fresh earth and tea. The best expressions are usually made from grapes grown in 10 different cru's and are a fantastic and affordable alternative to high end red Burgundy.
