About the wine

Tasting notes

The moderately warm and dry 2019 vintage was the perfect vintage for Cabernet Franc and Shiraz. The wine is unique, with floral characters and tannin structure from the Cabernet Franc, and ripe blackberry core fruit on the mid palate. It is a very charming and seductive wine.In the mouth it's rustic, firm, tense and juicy. Dry, dusty tannins grip and hold, while a red berry hum of acidity drives and swells with slightly jubey flavours of dark and red berries and a bitter cherry stone accent. Vanilla and brulée notes follow, along with mastic and cocoa powder, leading to a somewhat hollow midpalate. Unresolved and a little short, but swirling with energy. The tail appears after a pause in momentum with dried orange, blackberry and plum skins. Intriguing, tense and addictive!

The Grape

Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc is a red grape variety used as an important blending component for Bordeaux Blends, but also as an exceptional stand alone expression in the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc is the father grape to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and with a uniquely savoury dried cayenne/paprika note that distinguishes it from its child grapes. Medium bodied, graced with good levels of acidity and a slightly savoury bias, Cab Franc is a great choice for those who enjoy elegant reds with complexity and pairs perfectly with tomato based dishes and smoked meats.
