Le Mont lies on Vouvray’s esteemed Première Côte, part of a bank of limestone-rich hillside vineyards overlooking Tours. The argilo-siliceux soils (stony, with green, mineral clays and flint over limestone) of this block provide the tight structure and pungent minerality that Le Mont is renowned for. With less clay (and a different type of clay) and more stone than Le Haut-Lieu, this is a site that typically produces the nerviest wines in the Huet stable, so it is mostly dry and off-dry whites produced from this vineyard.

Ripe pear, tangerine, orange fruits with notes of lemon grass and tobacco. It's very fine, chalky, delicate and linear on the palate, with fresh acidity salty-mineral tension and very fine tannins. Highly finessed and so pure and vivacious!

The 2019 Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec is clear, fresh, deep and complex yet pure, fine, elegant and perfectly interwoven on the nose, where notes of crushed flint stones, limestones and concentrated citrus fruit aromas and even iodine notes are revealed. Very elegant and refined on the palate, this is a round, juicy, seductively fruity yet firmly structured and piquant Le Mont whose sweetness is captured by fine tannins and a sustainably dense, vital and salty finish. The 2019 Demi-Sec is a great Chenin and the finer Le Mont of the two, and it is doubtlessly a long-distance runner that should be cellared for at least a decade even though it's hard to resist today. Impressive!
Chenin Blanc is a white grape variety most famous for the beautifully lean and mineral expressions that come out of the Loire Valley in France and the rich and sweet expressions from South Africa. The wines are very aromatic and fruit forward, with flavours of quince, pear, yellow apple, chamomile and honey and can be made in a diverse range of style from sparkling, to lean and mineral, all the way to rich and even fortified. Chenin Blanc is quickly becoming a first choice for lovers of complex and fruity white wines and we think it's only the beginning for this amazing grape.
