Ceretto is a third -generation family wine enterprise that was founded more than 70 years ago in the Langhe region of Piedmonte, Italy. It has built up its impressive international reputation and was a pioneer in introducing the concept of cru- wines made from specific vineyards chosen for their enduring excellence.Founded by Riccardo Ceretto in the 1930s, the domaine’s turning-point came in the sixties, when control was handed to the second generation, brothers Bruno and Marcello. Inspired by a trip to Burgundy, the brothers focused on the concept of terroir, a revolutionary approach for the region, and set about identifying the finest crus of Barolo and Barbaresco. In the vineyard Alessandro Ceretto has been shifting to organic and biodynamic practices, paying much more attention to the soil and establishing a mother vineyard using selection massale propagating only the best vines.

About the wine

Tasting notes

A bold, tightly structured and intensely flavoured Nebbiolo that exudes elegance. Aromas of wild florals, ripe red cherries plums, herbs, hints of balsamic and oak spice. This is so beautiful and complex. The palate has concentration and purity from start to finish, with an incredibly deep core of ripe cherries, framed in perfectly polished and layered tannins. Aged in top shelf oak to give decadence and silkiness, this is a truly complete and age worthy wine for the connoisseur.

The Grape

Nebbiolo

Often referred to as the king of red grapes, Nebbiolo is responsible for some of the greatest wines in the world. The regions of Barbaresco and Barolo, in Piedmont, Italy, create the most revered expressions of the variety and have set the benchmarks for the world over. Nebbiolo is quite light in colour, dry and delicate but packs a punch in aroma and flavour with notes of rose, tar, cherry, red berries, blood orange, licorice, leather, terracotta and earthy herbals. These wines have high acidity and high tannins, making them extremely age worthy that deepen in complexity over decades. Simply stunning wines!
