Eight at the Gate is owned and run by two sisters, Jane and Claire. We make elegant wines that we love to drink.Our name was inspired by two complementary processes. We both grew up on the land and both have four kids each, so eight kids (or more) hanging on our front gate is a common sight. The same love, perseverance and hard work that goes into raising our eight children, goes into growing our grapes and creating our wines.At Eight at the Gate we are not restricted by tradition and corporate ownership. We have the freedom to make exceptional wines using the best techniques from around the world, and that is what we do. Only our best grapes go into our own wines, and we only make our wines when the grape quality is exceptional. The rest of our grapes are sold and go into some of Australia’s most iconic wines. We chose Wrattonbully to put down our roots because of its rich Terra Rossa soils, pristine underground water, rolling hills and cool inland maritime climate – the ideal place to grow premium wine grapes.Eight reasons our wine stands apart: 1.
