Uniting the depth of Forêt with the elegance and energy of Montmains, the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux is one of the most complete and seamless premiers crus in Raveneau’s range. Based on similar clay-rich soils as Forêt but at a higher altitude, it’s sourced from 55-year-old vines that produce small, concentrated berries.

OUTSTANDING: Prominent mineral reduction nuances add breadth to the aromas of cool apple, pear, just grated zest and iodine and algae wisps. The richer and more concentrated larger-scaled flavors flash even more evident power on the markedly dry, sappy, balanced, tightly wound and quite serious finale. The Raveneau Butteaux is consistently the reference standard for the vineyard and it's likely to be so again in 2023. Drink: 2033+
One of the most planted, versatile and popular white varieties in the world. As a stand alone grape, Chardonnay is not the most interesting, nor complex varietal out there...but in the hands of a great winemaker it can be turned into one of the world's greatest pleasures! From the best bubbles of Champagne, to the lean, unoaked and mineral expressions of Chablis and the opulent, oaked and complex whites of Burgundy, Chardonnay is responsible for making some of the greatest expressions of white wine on the planet.
