A wonderful expression of terroir and pedigree from Chablis’s revered Blanchot Grand Cru vineyards, which are the most easterly planted and some of the steepest of Chablis’s Grand Cru climats, where chalky Kimmeridgian limestone soils give rise to wines of exceptional energy and precision. This exceptional Grand Cru was made from two parcels of vines, one of which was recently pulled up, while the second showcases a parcel of 80+ year old vines.

Aromas of lemon, pear, anise, chalky soil tones, beeswax, just a whisper of oyster shell, spring flowers and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and utterly classic in profile, with a rock solid core of pure fruit, great mineral undertow, an excellent spine of acidity and a long, pure and perfectly balanced finish

OUTSTANDING Don't Miss* - a plethora of classic Chablis elements, and in particular oyster shell, along with more floral and spice wisps that contribute to the sense of elegance. As is typically the case, the mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is finer than that of the Valmur though without the same power and muscle before culminating in a bone-dry and firmly austere finale that is also very tightly wound. This will need to develop more depth with time in bottle but the Raveneau Blanchot has an impeccable track record in that regard.
One of the most planted, versatile and popular white varieties in the world. As a stand alone grape, Chardonnay is not the most interesting, nor complex varietal out there...but in the hands of a great winemaker it can be turned into one of the world's greatest pleasures! From the best bubbles of Champagne, to the lean, unoaked and mineral expressions of Chablis and the opulent, oaked and complex whites of Burgundy, Chardonnay is responsible for making some of the greatest expressions of white wine on the planet.
