Tasting notes
The nose is lifted and aromatic, with notes of sour cherry, rose petal, and blood orange, accented by hints of iron, herbs, and crushed stone. On the palate, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity frame a core of red fruit, savory spice, and distinct mineral tension. Light ruby with a wonderfully floral nose of roses, raspberry licorice, blood orange and strawberries, with kirsch, vegetal earthiness, alpine herbals and tar. In the mouth it’s fine, very dry and pure with deliciously floral and fruity flavours that echo the nose, charged with tense acidity and bound within a cage of firm and spindly tannins. Elegance, finesse and intensity in spades. What a wine.
Nebbiolo
Often referred to as the king of red grapes, Nebbiolo is responsible for some of the greatest wines in the world. The regions of Barbaresco and Barolo, in Piedmont, Italy, create the most revered expressions of the variety and have set the benchmarks for the world over. Nebbiolo is quite light in colour, dry and delicate but packs a punch in aroma and flavour with notes of rose, tar, cherry, red berries, blood orange, licorice, leather, terracotta and earthy herbals. These wines have high acidity and high tannins, making them extremely age worthy that deepen in complexity over decades. Simply stunning wines!
