Medium straw and gold with that unmistakable nose of flint and toasted curry leaf, citrus blossom, lemon/lime, kaffir lime, white peach, honeydew, apple, freshly cut fennel, spearmint, white pepper, floral galangal, chicken stock, roasted pepitas and bruléed oak. Quite tight and inward facing at this point in time. In the mouth it’s a tightly bound, finely woven and elegant expression of Beechworth Chardonnay that celebrates a cool vintage and the freshness, intensity and fine detail that comes with it. It floods the palate with high definition citrus, sweet pome and creamy stonefruit that are charged with energy and spiced by perfectly matched oak. Lovely juicy acidity drives long, while proud and tight grained tannins grip and hold with tension making sure you’re paying attention. A weave of crystalline minerality runs throughout, adding to its complexities, and it reaches long with an inertia that takes a minute to catch-up with itself. Effortless, harmonious and wonderfully fine, this is a release that requires patience if you want to see all of the beauty it has to offer. An outstanding release that is unto its own. Hold!
