2018 Terre à Terre Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

AustraliaWhiteHighly RecommendNew ArrivalsAustralianPrivate Cellar

$ 50.00 AUD

The Sauvignon Blanc fruit for the Crayères Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was handpicked based on flavour ripeness on the 26th of February, one month earlier than in 2017 and one week later than in 2016. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and fermented in six 600L demi-muids at low temperatures. After 10 days of fermentation, the wine was left on lees for one month without sulphur, with no bâtonnage. It was then lightly sulphured in the demi-muids where it stayed for a further nine months on full lees, with lees stirring every two months. The wine did not go through malolactic fermentation to ensure that a crisp acidity balances the significant texture. It was bottled in mid-February 2019.

Tasting notes

Simply stunning. The most serious and majestic expression of Sauvignon Blanc in Australia that rivals the best of Sancerre. Sauvignon Blanc, but not as you may know it. Tight, tense, pure and textural with beautifully crisp citrus, white stonefruit and gentle herbals.

Sauvignon Blanc

A crisp, textural and beautifully expressive white wine that grows in almost every wine growing country across the world. In the hands of a great winemaker, Sauvignon Blanc can rival the very best white wines of the world with its complex aromas and flavours that you won't find in other white varieties. The expressions from Sancerre and Bordeaux set the benchmark the world over, using oak as a medium for body and spice, and in great Sauvignon Blanc you'll find notes of white florals, gentle herbals, creme fraiche, cassis, melon, complex citrus, pear, gooseberry, vanilla, cashew and hints of passionfruit.
